Our work rarely begins with a legal question. It begins with a recording of the facts: what happened, in what sequence, which documents exist, and where are the parties involved, accounts and assets? Only then can it be assessed which court may have jurisdiction, which law applies and whether a course of action makes economic sense.

This sequence is the reason why we speak early about prospects and risks, and not only once costs have arisen. If we consider proceedings not to be viable, we say so – even when it speaks against a mandate. A title against an impecunious other side is an expensive piece of paper.

The second principle concerns responsibility within the mandate itself. You have a fixed contact person who keeps the overview, even when several legal systems and authorities are involved. We take on the coordination with locally admitted practitioners; it should not be noticeable for you.

The third concerns the tone. Many clients come to us after they have lost assets through deception. We do not assess how it came about. Shame is the normal case in fraud matters and is of no significance for the legal handling.
